Grant scheme

26th September is the European Day of Languages. It is a great time to arrange fun European activities to celebrate the language and cultural diversity found across Europe.

Europe Direct North East is inviting schools to apply for a small grant to help them run a European Day of Languages event. We are awarding grants of £75, which will be given to the strongest and most innovative applications.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking to support projects/ activities which stimulate people to learn and think about different languages and cultural diversity on or around 26th September. Activities might include:

  • providing language taster sessions – particularly European languages not commonly taught in UK schools
  • exploring and celebrating the diversity of cultures to be found in Europe, e.g. different music, dance, costumes, traditions, etc.
  • language themed quizzes and competitions.

Please note that we will not offer grants for food tasting activities

How to apply?

Applicants will be notified during the week following the deadline as to whether or not they have been successful.

Please complete and return the accompanying application form by 5pm, Friday 28th July 2017. The application needs to outline your learning objectives and must state how you will spend the grant, ( purchase of language resources, specialist teacher provision etc.)
